The Positive Energy District (PED) concept developed in MAKING-CITY will be tested and validated in two Lighthouse Cities chosen based on their current work and commitment to the energy transition. The PED concept will be replicated in six Follower Cities.
The Dutch town of Groningen is one of the two Lighthouse cities. It will convert two districts in PED areas and focus on cycling and electric mobility.

In this Italian city, three districts will benefit from a PED replication based on the MAKING-CITY research activities.
In León, the PED replication will help lower income neighbourhoods access efficient energy solutions and services.
In Trenčín , multiple public buildings have been selected to replicate the PED concept developed in MAKING-CITY.
As the second Lighthouse city, Oulu will implement the PED concept in the Kaukovainio district and aim to attract new residents and families.
A suburb of the megacity of Istanbul, Kadıköy chose two higly urbanised districts to replicate the PED concept developed by the MAKING-CITY partners.
The Polish city of Lublin selected an area located in the Węglin Południowy district to replicate the PED concept developed in MAKING-CITY.
In the Bulgarian city of Vidin, the replication of the PED concept will help the housing sector reduce its carbon emissions.
