On 1-8 July 2022, the summer school “Positive Energy Districts: Towards a holistic approach to modeling and performance assessment” took place at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
Beril Alpagut, architect and project replication work package lead, presented “Experiences from MAKING-CITY project and future perspective”. This presentation focused on the struggle cities face in the decision-making process when implementing PEDs due to lack of information, awareness and experience. Beril presented how to design PEDs in 6 case cities by identifying PED boundaries, assissting PED technology selection, empowering cities with information and recommendations aligned with their district context and city needs, conducting a barriers/enabler analysis, developing alternative scenarios and conducting the calculation process to verify the achievement of annual primary energy surplus in the districts using the decision-making tools developed within MAKING-CITY.
Andrea Gabaldon, Junior Researcher at CARTIF and partner involved in the MAKING-CITY project, also presented at the summer school.
