MAKING-CITY attended the Scalable Cities Community Event: From Solutions to System Change which took place 1-2 June in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Theo Venema, project manager with Warmtestad, participated in the planary session on smart city narratives. In his presentation “WarmteStad: From market rule to public-owned district heating company”, Theo discussed the market-driven heating networks in the Netherlands as well as the solutions driven by local authorities taking place in Groningen, focusing especially on the birth and adaptation of the district heating network and its role in the implementation of the PED within the context of MAKING-CITY.

Jasper Tonen, Lighthouse Manager within MAKING-CITY, participated in the “Smart City Sherlock: In search of untold stories, triggers, right conditions and success factors for moving from solutions to system change” session as part of Transition Track #1: Towards Positive Energy Districts.

Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo, MAKING-CITY project coordinator, attended the technical visit, which focused on the first positive energy building in Utrecht.
